Price Point? Can one product really equal a day at home with my family?

What is a price point?  I am learning that during this journey of mine to become an excellent, coupon-savy shopper, and in shrinking my budget, I need to learn what is the lowest price possible that I can get a shopping item for.  For example:  I have learned that I DO NOT have to pay any higher than $1.00 for a box of cereal!  Yes, that is true.  Prior to my couponing days, I would easily spend $3.00 to $5.00 for a box of cereal!  I thought, unless I wanted to eat junk, this was the price I had to pay.  Well, after a while of collecting coupons and learning how my local stores operated, I learned that if I did my part I could provide my family with their favorite cereals for $1.00 a box!  And, can I just say that I had to reorganize my pantry this week because I had so many cereals!  They range any where from Kashi, to chocolate Special K, to oatmeal...and the list goes on.  The amazing thing is, that as I strive to save money in order to stay at home.....consider this:
Before:  2-3 boxes of cereals per week at (minimun) $4.00 per week = $8.00-$12.00 - weekly
This dollar amount per month = $32.00 - $48.00 per month

Now:  I spend approximately $4.00 (or less) per week
Per month = $16.00 (or less - mostly lesss)

Difference in price for only ONE product is $48.00 - $16.00 = $32.00
*I figure when it all shakes out (meaning if I were to go to work AND subtracting all my expenses), this is the equivalant of me staying home one day a month with my family verses working part time! Yes- $32.00 seems low, but considering gas I would spend, taxes taken out, work wardrobe.......for 4 hours of work...I would probably clear roughly this amount...the same as changing the way I buy cereal!

And......this is only one product!  A penny saved is definitely a penny earned!

Happy Thursday!
